New Friday Notes: notes for next week

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

ABOUT THE LSA:
NEILSA web site will be down this afternoon

Iowa First Lady Christie Vilsack will present a Glass Apple Award to 12 outstanding Iowa teacher-librarians during visits to school library media-resource centers in January and February. Among those being honored is Rick Valley of Decorah High School.

Vilsack will present Valley with his award during a ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 8:30 a.m. at the Decorah High School library.

The Glass Apple, an initiative of Mrs. Vilsack's Iowa Stories 2000 Foundation, was created to recognize and honor the hard work and dedication of the individual recipient as well as call attention to the hundreds of caring, committed teacher-librarians around the state that play a vital role in educating Iowa's children.

"Teacher-librarians are the keystone of every school's curriculum because they help students and teachers learn how to use books and technology in an effective way," Mrs. Vilsack said. "These remarkable people devote their energy, time and talents to helping students find, evaluate and use the information they gather from the many resources offered in a school library media center. Teacher-librarians can also help reduce the learning gap between students at urban and rural schools as well as the gap among immigrants and minorities."

Supply Vendor Agreements have been received for 2005.
Details are posted at: http://www.nclsa.lib.ia.us/Supply%20Bids/2005%20vendor%20agreements.pdf   http://www.nclsa.lib.ia.us/Supply%20Bids/2005%20vendor%20agreements.doc   If you have further questions, please contact the NCLSA office.
