NWILSA Blog:
With this blog, N.W. Iowa Library Services presents a new approach to sharing news and commentary on library management topics.  It offers another way for library staff and trustees to connect with each other by discussing service issues, policy issues, programming ideas, and more.

Register for PLM Courses This Fall:  The fall round of Public Library Management courses begins in August.  Remember standard #21, a Tier 1 requirement, requires that new library directors complete PLM1 and PLM2 in order to be certified (see page 10 from IN SERVICE TO IOWA…)  PLM1 and PLM2 are each 8-week courses.  The first day of class is always held in the Des Moines area; thereafter, the remaining 7 sessions are held over the ICN.  The fee for each course is $35.00.

This fall, PLM1 lands on Thursdays beginning August 4th, with the first class in the Des Moines metro area from 10:00—3:00 (specific location to be announced)  The remaining classes will be held on August 11, 18, 25 (skipping September 1^st) September 8, 15, 22, and 29 over the ICN.  ICN sessions run from 9:00—11:45.   Note the registration deadline is fast approaching: for PLM1, register online by June 24^th.  I’m on tap to teach PLM1 this fall, so I hope to see some friendly Northwest Iowa faces in the crowdJ  For the link to online registration and a look at the ICN locations, click here: http://www.silo.lib.ia.us/for-ia-libraries/continuing-ed/cecat.htm#August
