ABOUT THE LSA:

Retirement Party held for Pat Coffie June 30, 2005
Many patrons, staff, local librarians, board members, and city officials attended the retirement party for Pat Coffie.  Speeches were given by a wide variety of attendees stating their appreciation for the many years of dedicated service Pat has given to the community and region.  Gifts of appreciation were graciously accepted by Pat one of which included an alcove of the Waverly Public Library named in her honor.  by Susan

HISTORIC BRIDGE WEBSITE  (edited KD)
The Office of Location and Environment in the Department of Transportation, announced its Historic Bridge website where you can find a listing of bridge types and drawings.  The database is searchable by county, bridge type or decade constructed.  Each bridge listed on the website is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.   www.ole.dot.state.ia.us/historicbridge/.

IOWA TRANSPORTATION MAP FOR BICYCLIST
This year marks the fifth year that the Department of Transportation has produced a transportation map for bicyclists.  This map shows off-road trails for bicyclists as well as traffic levels for all paved roadways.  The department has received praise for the map year after year.

Updating the map is a coordinated effort between the state’s metropolitan planning organizations and regional planning affiliations, the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee, the Departments of Natural Resources and Economic Development, and the public.

The maps will be available at no charge at driver’s license stations and welcome centers throughout Iowa.  They can be ordered over the phone by calling 515-242-4705 or 800-345-IOWA. [limit 10] The maps can be viewed and ordered online by visiting http://www.iowabikes.com/  or http://www.iowadotmaps.com/
