Lamont Public Library

The circulating books are loaned for a period of two weeks and may be renewed twice. The loaning of research materials is left up to the discretion of the librarian.




Dows Public Library

Books and Magazines

Books and magazines are checked out free to anyone. They may be borrowed for a period of two weeks with a two week renewal period. A fine of five cents (.05) per book per open day will be assessed against any patron not returning books by the due date which is stamped inside the book. No late charge will be fined on paperback books or books that children are using at school. Damage to books or lost books will be the responsibility of the borrowers.

Reference Books

Reference books such as encyclopedias. dictionaries, atlases and other books not containing a card may NOT be taken from the library. An exception is a set of older World Book Encyclopedia which may be checked out for a period of one week. If the reference book does not contain a card, it may NOT be taken from the library.




Jefferson Public Library — Library Rules

Borrowers

Free library service is available to residents of Greene County. Persons owning property (but not residing) in Greene County also qualify for free library service.

Any resident of Iowa may borrow materials from this library by presenting a library card from their local public library. If the town in which you live does not have a public library, nor does it contract with another town for library service, you must purchase a fee card from us in order to borrow materials. You will be asked to pay the same price on an annual basis that residents of Jefferson pay.

Persons confined to their homes or institutions because of physical, mental or emotional limitation are encouraged to apply for personalized delivery service.

Children who have not yet completed the sixth grade are registered in the children's department. A statement of consent and responsibility must be signed by a parent or guardian before the card is issued.

Loan Periods

All materials except those listed below are loaned for two weeks.

Audio-visual equipment, videocassettes, videodiscs and cake pans -- 1-3 days
Art prints, sculptures and sewing patterns--2 months

Renewals

All items except art prints may be renewed once if not on reserve. Renewals may be confirmed by telephone or in person, but written renewal requests are strongly discouraged and cannot be guaranteed.




Nashua Public Library

Circulation Policy

  1. Books and other circulating library materials may be checked out for a two week period (two weeks from the following Saturday for items taken Monday through Thursday).
  2. Books may be renewed for an additional two week period, unless reserved for another patron. Reserved books may not be renewed. An additional renewal is possible for items not in demand, but books from the new book shelves may be renewed once only.
  3. Magazines, records, and children's book-cassette sets may not be renewed.
  4. A limit of 5 items per person is required, except for paperbacks. No limit is imposed on the number of paperbacks taken at one time. There is a limit of one book-cassette set per child.
  5. Overdues:
    1. Fines of $ .05 per library day overdue will be charged per item.
    2. A grace period of one week after the due date will be allowed with no fines charged.
    3. Items returned after the grace period will be charged the full amount of fines accrued.
    4. Fines will accumulate up to the replacement cost of the item.
    5. Overdue notices will be sent or phone call made one week after items are due. A second notice will be sent two weeks later. A third notice will be sent after two additional weeks. If no response, steps will be taken to retrieve materials.
  6. Lost Library Materials: If materials are lost, the full replacement cost of the item will be charged plus a S2.00 service charge on each item. Damaged materials will be charged according to the amount of damage and possibility of repair.
  7. Persons with unpaid fines of more than $l.00 or overdue materials will not be permitted to check out additional library materials. Materials may continue to be used in the library. THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS.
  8. Reserved Materials:
    1. Patrons may request that an item be held for them.
    2. The patron will be notified when the item is available.
    3. If the item is not claimed within three library days after notification, it will be given to the next patron on the reserve list, or returned to the general collection.
  9. Art Prints:
    1. Art Prints may be checked out for a four-week period.
    2. There Is a limit of one print per household in any four-week period.
    3. There is a limit of two prints per household for each group of prints available.
    4. A fine of $1.00 per day overdue will be charged for prints not returned on time. Persons consistently neglecting to return prints on time, will be denied further borrowing privileges.





    Shenandoah Public Library

    Rule and Regulations

    Borrowers

    (Residents) of Page County are eligible for a library card without charge. A resident must have a calling address in Page County.

    (Non-residents) who live outside Page County but in the Shenandoah service area (within a 30 mile radius) may apply for a non-resident library card. There is an annual fee of $3.00 per card. The annual fee will be waived only if the family pays Page County property taxes. The card is for use only by members of the household.

    (Children) may apply for a library card when they enter kindergarten. Students who have completed sixth grade, may have a card in the Adult Department. Children should use the children's area, but may use the Adult area if necessary.

    Application Procedure

    New applicants should first read the rules of the library. New applicants must present some form of identification which carries their current name and address (driver's license, credit card, letter addressed to them, utility bill, etc.)

    Application forms will be completed by the librarian on duty.

    Applicants for student library cards (K-12) must give the name of a parent or a guardian as a reference. New adult applicants must provide a reference (place of employment of self or spouse, an individual in the community with a library card, etc.) Persons listed as a reference must be in good standing with the library. If a library patron loses a library card a $.50 charge will be made for replacement thereof.

    Materials

    BOOKS may be kept two weeks and once renewed automatically for another two weeks. Any additional renewals must be done at the library. Books and any other materials designated as two- week or one week items may not be renewed.

    New borrowers can take only two items. Otherwise, the librarian shall determine the number of books that may be borrowed at one time.

    All books are subject at any time to recall by the librarian for special purpose, and must be returned at once upon the receipt of notice.

    Circulation periods and restrictions for other materials are as follows:

    ART PRINTS may be taken two at a time for six weeks with no renewal;

    EIGHT TRACK TAPES may be taken six at a time for four weeks;

    RECORDS may be taken six at a time for four weeks, unless marked two weeks;

    CASSETTE TAPES may be taken five at a time for two weeks with no renewal; The total of tapes, cassettes, and records which one patron may have at any time is six;

    8 MM, SUPER 8 MM, AND 16 MM FILM from our collection may be taken five at a time for two weeks. STATE LIBRARY FILMS may be taken two at a time for one week;

    MAGAZINES may be taken six at a time. Magazines less than a year old may be taken for one week. Other magazines and PAMPHLETS may be taken for two weeks.

    VIDEODISCS AND VIDEOTAPES may be taken three at a time for three days;

    CIRCULATING ENCYCLOPEDIAS may be taken for one week;

    INTERLIBRARY LOAN materials circulate for two weeks and are non-renewable;

    The PA SYSTEM may be taken for no charge for 24 hours, the patron must have an adult card, there is an overdue charge of S2.00 per day;

    The PROJECTION SCREENS may be taken for 24 hours without charge, the patron must have an adult card, there is an overdue charge of S2.00 per day;

    PROJECTORS, including 8 MM, SUPER 8 MM, 16 MM, OVERHEAD, SLIDE, and VIDEODISC, may be checked out for 24 hours, patron must have adult card, fee is S2.00 per day;

    POLAROID CAMERAS may be taken one per family for one week with no charge;

    Persons wishing to use projectors in the auditorium must pay the S2.00 fee regardless of the time used.

    No more than five items may be taken by a patron who has not brought his/her library card.

    Bound volumes of the Evening Sentinel, late encyclopedias, and special reference books shall not be checked out. Older copies of encyclopedias may be checked out for one week, non-renewable. Other volumes may come under such restrictions of the discretion of the librarian or the Board.

    A fine of five cents a day per book shall be imposed for books kept overtime, Sundays and holidays not included. For magazines and uncataloged paperbacks the fine is two cents per day; for records, tapes and cassettes, five cents per day; for films, videodiscs, and videotapes, ten cents per day; and for art prints, fifty cents per day.

    All injuries to library materials, beyond reasonable wear, and all losses shall be properly adjusted to the satisfaction of the librarian.

    Magazines shall be kept by the library for a period of five years.
