Bulletin Board Policy 

Posters to be Displayed

No posters of a political nature will be displayed in this library facility. This includes student groups. Exceptions to this rule, are at the discretion of the Library Director, and will be political materials of a non-partisan nature that "serve to educate the public on political or governmental issues.
 
 



 
 
 

Mechanicsville Public Library

Posting Notices in Library
 

  1. A limited amount of space is available in the library to educational, cultural or other non-commercial, nonsectarian civic groups for posting notices of meetings and other activities. No commercial notices for profit making organizations or individuals may be displayed.
  2. All notices posted in the library become the property of the library and may be removed and discarded at any time.
  3. The library cannot accept responsibility for returning notices and posters to their owners.

 



 
 

Jefferson Public Library

Information Kiosk/Bulletin 

PURPOSE: Inasmuch as is possible, to serve as a community Information center, notifying the public of special local programs, events and activities that cater to educational, cultural, recreational, occupation and information needs. It is not to serve as a political or religious forum, a lost & found listing, a business or sales contact, a jobs directory or an exchange point for personal notes. Every attempt will be made to accommodate all eligible requests for display space. This policy is not to be implemented in the spirit of either discrimination or favoritism; however, the library's director reserves the right to scrutinize requests In the interest of the library's board of trustees and the community of Jefferson.

 DISPLAYS, EXHIBITS AND POSTERS
 

  • Items to be posted must be approved by the library's director.
  • Items to be posted should be no larger than 8 1/2" x 11".
  • Items brought to the library for display become the property of the library.
  • The library's staff has the prerogative to remove items from display.




 
 


Hudson Public Library

Policy on Bulletin Boards, Posters, and Distribution of Materials

The library will post announcements of the cultural activities of the community  those concerned with literature, art, music, drama, and related activities as well as public announcements of a general interest to the community. This posting to be on a space permitting status.

The following general guidelines will apply:
 

  • Posters, notices, and material for distribution should be submitted to the Librarian. Nothing may be posted or removed from posting areas except by authorized library staff.
  • Items, approved by the Librarian, will be posted. They will remain posted at the discretion of the librarian and subject to space limitations. Posters and notices with printed price charges will be accepted.
  • Announcements of courses given by educational institutions or sponsored by a recognized community group may be accepted. Those announcements advertising private instruction or courses by individual teachers or private firms will be reviewed on a case-by-case situation.
  • The Library forbids the distribution of advertising literature, the circulation of petitions, or the solicitation of funds for any purpose. The Library will not act as a distribution center for free materials which deal with controversial issues, written from only one point of view. Neither will the Library act as an agent to sell any type of materials no matter how worthy the cause.
  • The Library shall be selective In making announcements available for quantity distribution. If the materials offered seem of questionable tone, the Librarian shall give final approval.
  • At the discretion of the Librarian, religious or political materials deemed to educate the public may be posted.
  • In all instances the Library reserves the right to refuse any announcements considered too commercial, in bad taste, or of doubtful value.
The posting of bulletin board materials, posters, or the distribution of approved materials does not imply endorsement by the Library.


Glenwood Public Library
Exhibit and Bulletin Board Policy 

Exhibits in the library are seen by anyone who walks into the library, both children and adults who may have various degrees of sophistication. The materials of the exhibits must therefore meet what is generally known as "a standard acceptable to the community."

The use by individuals or organizations, of the library's facilities for displays and/or exhibits, other than those which pertain to the library, is not a right but a privilege which is subject to review by the Board of Trustees.

The library director may grant the privilege of placing exhibits and displays in the library, subject to the following conditions:
 

  1. No poster, display, exhibit, pamphlet, brochure, leaflet, or booklet shall be exhibited, displayed, or placed in the library for distribution without permission from the library director. All Items will be dated when posted.
  2. No outside organization or individual shall be permitted to display or exhibit any materials, leaflet, or posters which advocate the election or defeat of a candidate for public office, or which advocate an affirmative or negative vote for or against any  proposition, whether political or otherwise.
  3. No organization or individual shall be permitted to place in the  library any box, receptacle, or canister which solicits donations, not shall any poster or display be permitted which advocates or solicits consideration of any product or item sold by any commercial or charitable enterprise, unless the library benefits directly from such sales. Posters announcing bazaars or programs sponsored by any local educational, religious, or fraternal organization may be displayed provided there is room for  such displays and they are of reasonable size. Nothing may be posted that advocates one religion or belief over another.
  4. The library assumes no responsibility for the preservation, protection, or possible damage or theft of any item displayed or exhibited. All items placed in the library are done so at the owner's risk.
  5. Nothing may be posted or removed from exhibits or bulletin boards except by Librarian or authorized staff member.
  6. The library shall decide on the content and arrangement of all exhibits. Every item must meet the library's standards of value and quality and the library reserves the right to reject any part of an exhibit or to change the manner of display.
  7. Announcements of courses given by education institutions or sponsored by recognized community groups (i.e. AAUW, Chamber of Commerce, etc.) may be accepted, but not those publicizing instruction or courses by individual teachers or private firms.
  8. Persons are strictly forbidden to distribute advertising literature in the library building, to circulate or post petitions, or to solicit funds for any purpose, other than those which the Library will directly benefit. The library will not act  as a distribution center for free materials which deal with controversial issues, written from one point of view only.
  9. The Library is selective in making announcements available for quantity distribution. If the materials offered seem questionable, the Library administration office should be consulted.
Posting of notices and distribution of materials does not imply endorsement by the Library.

AGREEMENT OF ASSUMPTION OF RISK

For and In consideration of the agreement by the City of Perry, Dallas County, Iowa, a municipal corporation organized and existing pursuant to the laws of the State of Iowa, to allow me (or us) to display certain paintings or other objects owned or possessed by me or under my control, in the Perry Public Library, Perry, Iowa, I, (name), do hereby assume all risk of loss, damage, or destruction to the said paintings or other articles whether the same shall be by vandalism, fire, any casualty, or from any other cause, or whether such loss or damage shall be the result of any negligence or misconduct of any person in the employ of the City of Perry, or otherwise, and I hereby
agree to save and hold harmless the said City of Perry from any and all such damage and loss.

Greene Public Library

Exhibit and Display Policy 

BASIC POLICY
 

  1. Exhibits are an extension of the Library's cultural and educational services and as such there is no rental charge. The library reserves the right to decline any exhibit or to schedule any exhibit in accordance with the Library's best interests.
  2. The library is not responsible for the arrangement, care, supervision, or dismantling of exhibits, but reserves the right to approve or disapprove of the handling of any exhibit. The library does not carry insurance on, and Is not responsible for, any items owned by the displayer. The library will not provide storage for the property of organizations or individuals displaying in the library. All displayers are required to sign the attached form which releases the library from any responsibility for displayed items.
  3. No permanent exhibits or gifts or museum materials will normally be accepted, although the library itself may solicit exceptional materials if available without conditions.
  4. Hours of exhibits must coincide with hours that the library is open unless special permission is granted by the library board.
RULES
  1. All exhibit requests and schedules must be approved by the Director.
  2. No show shall last for more than one month.
EXHIBIT RELEASE

I, the undersigned, hereby lend the following works of art or other material to the Greene Public Library for exhibit purposes only. In consideration of the privilege of exhibiting them in the library, I hereby release said library from responsibility for loss, damage, or destruction while they are in the possession of the library.
