NONDISCRIMINATION

Section 1. Policy

  1. Positions in all departments in municipal service shall be open to all applicants who meet the qualifications established for the position for which application is made.

  2. The employment policies and practices of the City of Marshalltown, Iowa, are to recruit and to hire employees without discrimination because of race, creed, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, or physical or mental disability, and to treat them equally with respect to compensation and opportunities for advancement, including upgrading, promotion and transfer.

Section 2. Affirmative Action.

  1. The city has adopted an "Affirmative Action Program" by resolution of the City Council. The policy of the city with respect to all phases of employment shall be administered in accordance with the provisions contained therein.
