LSA Board Membership

Iowa Library Service Area boards have seven members. Two positions on each LSA board expire June 30, 2008 - public library trustee and library patron. The person filling the public library trustee position is elected by public library board presidents; the library patron position is appointed by the Iowa Commission of Libraries (the State Library's governing board).

Public library trustees interested in running for election or anyone interested in being considered for appointment will need to complete a Nomination Form. So that our information is current, please complete a new form even if you completed one previously.

The forms must be received at the State Library by March 14, 2008. (See below for mailing address and fax number.)

To print a Nomination Form, go to http://www.statelibraryofiowa.org/ld/lsaboards and click on Nomination Form. This page also has information on LSA board responsibilities.

Community Foundation Locator

Check it out at http://www.cof.org/Locator/. Nice tool to find more information on community foundations across the country -- even in Iowa. Lots of other good stuff available there from the Council on Foundations.

Summer Library Program Workshop in Grundy Center

The workshop for Feb. 6 in Grundy Center has been called because of weather. We will not be able to reschedule because Jean, our presenter, who used to work at the Dubuque Public Library now lives in Colorado and is just on loan to us for these workshops. We will be taping the workshops at the Johnston location on Thursday, and will send DVDS to anyone who has registered for a workshop that is cancelled. You can watch the DVD and then receive CE credits.

If you have a question feel free to call the State Library.

Thanks,
Karen
